Sunday Times: Clarkson Review of the Jaguar F-type

The famously shy and retiring Jeremy Clarkson has honoured us with his views on the Jaguar F-type in his Sunday Times column (12 May 2013). While his reviews are often overgrown with verbiage I do think that when his writing is “on cam”, so to speak, he is the finest automotive journalist in the country. He has an uncanny ability to reveal the very heart of the vehicle by making us feel that we are in the driving seat. I always remember his Top Gear report on the latest Mitsubishi Evo XXX or something. Having subjected the car to the predictable yee-haw rodeo round the track he then put it up against a bog standard Renault Clio for the 0-30mph commuter traffic sprint. With the Mitsubishi desperately trying to spool up its jet-engine size turbo the Clio was able to slip sweetly away. The point was well made: in real traffic…
